Software Engineer III
Arcadia is seeking a Software Engineer III to join our dynamic team in Chennai, India. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely within India, contributing to the development of reliable and scalable backend systems. As a hands-on engineer, you will collaborate closely with teammates to deliver high-quality features end-to-end, solving real-world problems and writing clean, maintainable code.
In this position, you will own and deliver small to medium-sized backend features from technical discovery and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration. Responsibilities include taking technical ownership of non-critical backend services, ensuring their reliability and maintainability, writing modular and testable code primarily in Ruby, Ruby on Rails, and Python, and contributing to the design and evolution of our APIs, including GraphQL and REST endpoints. Additionally, you will ensure strong observability and operational health of owned services through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience building and operating high-availability backend systems, with strong fundamentals in system design, API design, and data modeling. Proficiency in Python or Ruby, including experience with web frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Django, or Flask, is essential. Advanced SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases are required, along with hands-on experience with AWS services like S3, SQS, SES, and EventBridge. Familiarity with containerization using Docker and exposure to distributed systems or platform engineering are also important.
