Senior Staff Engineer
Braze is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to lead our Infrastructure division, which supports the massive scale of our customer engagement platform. This role involves designing, building, and operating the architecture that powers Braze’s systems, ensuring reliability and performance across our services. The Infrastructure team manages autoscaling systems, metrics pipelines, reliable job execution, and internal frameworks that facilitate safe distributed processing for application teams.
In this position, you will provide leadership within the Infrastructure division and the broader engineering team. Responsibilities include long-term planning and execution, defining critical visions for our systems, and collaborating with engineering teams to leverage our infrastructure for launching products at scale. You will own the quality of our architecture decisions, partner on the design of systems across multiple teams, and work at the intersection of process, technology, and people to deliver solutions that meet compliance requirements.
The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in developing high-scale distributed systems or platform/infrastructure. You should have a strong understanding of system interfaces, boundaries, edge cases, failure modes, and behaviors. As a technical practitioner and people leader, you can scale your leverage through process, collaboration, and software. Experience leading infrastructure or infrastructure-adjacent teams, either as a tech lead or manager, in a high-scale system is essential.
For candidates based in the United States, the compensation for this position ranges from $208,000 to $349,655 per year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $232,000 and $390,000 per year, including bonus or commission.
