Senior Software Engineer, AI Team (Oakland, CA)
Fictiv is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI Innovation Team at the Oakland, CA headquarters. This team functions as an internal startup, dedicated to identifying and developing new product capabilities that redefine manufacturing in an AI-driven landscape. The role focuses on creating innovative solutions from the ground up, rather than making incremental improvements to existing systems.
In this position, you will be responsible for discovering and defining high-impact AI opportunities within manufacturing and supply chain workflows. Your day-to-day tasks will include building rapid prototypes using real-world company data, developing and iterating on large language model (LLM)-powered systems, and collaborating directly with customers and internal stakeholders to validate real-world use cases. Additionally, you will work with engineering partners to transform validated concepts into scalable, production-ready systems and explore emerging AI models, tools, and frameworks to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in building and shipping LLM-based applications used in production. Proficiency in modern development environments, particularly TypeScript/JavaScript and AWS, is preferred. Hands-on experience with prompt design and iteration, LLM evaluation and testing methodologies, and implementing guardrails and reliability patterns for AI applications is essential. A track record of designing experiments and using data to validate technical decisions is also required. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
Fictiv offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 to $200,000, depending on experience. The compensation package includes comprehensive medical and dental coverage, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off and leave programs.
