Senior PostgreSQL Platform Engineer

Trade Republic is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team, which is integral to maintaining the company's engineering velocity. As Europe's largest savings platform, Trade Republic operates in 18 countries, serving over 10 million customers with assets exceeding €150 billion. Our mission is to empower individuals to build wealth through easy, safe, and free access to financial systems.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the reliability and uptime of our PostgreSQL clusters, ensuring high availability and resilience across maintenance, upgrades, and failure scenarios. You will automate the full operational lifecycle of our databases, transforming manual operations into self-service workflows. Additionally, you will define and embed database standards into the platform, making best practices the default for our engineering teams. Participation in the on-call rotation and shaping the platform's roadmap are also key aspects of this position.

The ideal candidate will have over four years of experience in database or platform engineering, with deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including replication, sharding, backup strategies, upgrades, and security. Proficiency in backend engineering, particularly with Go, is preferred, along with familiarity with Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools. Strong communication skills and the ability to drive cross-team initiatives are essential.
