The Senior Patent Counsel / Director, Intellectual Property will be responsible for creating and managing global patent portfolios that protect Altos Labs' innovations in cellular programming, computational biology, and transformative therapeutics. This role involves preparing, prosecuting, and maintaining patent applications for various therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, large molecules, and gene therapy. The position reports to the Vice President of Intellectual Property and is based in San Diego, California.
Candidates should possess a PhD in Chemistry or a related science and be registered before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. A Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the California Bar, or the ability to qualify as Registered In-House Counsel, are required for those with a legal background. A minimum of 7 years of experience as a patent prosecutor, including both law firm and industry experience, is preferred. Experience in global pharmaceutical drug development and commercialization is also required.
The salary range for this position in San Diego is $286,300 to $367,000 annually. Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
