The Director/Senior Director of Machine Learning for Biology will lead the IoC's machine learning initiatives, guiding a team of scientists and engineers. For the Director level, a minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 4-5 years in people management is required; for the Senior Director level, 14+ years of experience with 7-8+ years in leadership roles. Expertise in AI/ML methods applied to biological data modalities, such as single-cell, perturbation-response, spatial, or sequence data, is essential. A proven track record in leading innovative biological ML projects and the ability to foresee and mitigate potential project challenges are crucial.
Compensation for this role varies by location and experience. In San Diego, the salary range is $273,900 to $351,100 for the Director level and $337,700 to $432,900 for the Senior Director level. In Redwood City, the Director level salary ranges from $297,400 to $381,300, and the Senior Director level from $366,800 to $470,200. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
