Senior Legal Counsel, Business Banking
Monzo is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its Legal and Board Governance Collective, focusing on business banking and merchant payments. This role involves collaborating with product managers, designers, engineers, and risk and compliance teams to develop and deliver innovative financial products for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The position offers flexibility, with options to work from London, Cardiff, or remotely within the UK.
The Senior Legal Counsel will provide legal advice on matters related to business banking and merchant payments, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include supporting the development of point-of-sale (POS) and online card payment acceptance services for business customers, creating efficient operational processes to facilitate rapid scaling, and delivering training to staff on relevant laws and regulations. The role requires autonomous decision-making and proactive identification of legal issues, offering effective solutions to complex business challenges.
Candidates should possess substantial experience in legal advisory roles within the financial services sector, particularly in areas related to business banking and payment services. A strong understanding of UK financial regulations and the ability to navigate complex legal frameworks are essential.
