Senior Director, New Product and Business Risk Oversight
The Senior Director of New Product and Business Risk Oversight at SoFi is a pivotal role within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, operating under Independent Risk Management (IRM). This position serves as the Business Unit Risk Officer, establishing and overseeing the company's framework for assessing new products and change initiatives, including the development and governance of risk management practices for international products.
Key responsibilities encompass acting as the primary contact for risk matters within assigned business units, advising leadership on the risk implications of strategic initiatives, product changes, market decisions, and operational transformations. The role involves leading IRM deal teams in partnership with the Business Compliance Officer, coordinating inputs from functional risk leads to provide a comprehensive IRM perspective, and influencing senior management to ensure balanced risk/reward decisions. Additionally, the Senior Director establishes and oversees policy requirements for assessing new, modified, or expanded products and business change initiatives, provides second-line oversight of the product lifecycle to ensure alignment with the bank's risk appetite and regulatory expectations, and defines minimum risk management standards across all risk types.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field, with over 12 years of experience in risk management within financial services, including exposure to multiple risk disciplines and experience operating under globally recognized regulatory regimes. Demonstrated experience in building Independent Risk Management practices, implementing risk frameworks, or overseeing risk governance across multiple regions is essential. A strong understanding of principles across risk categories, including credit, operational, market, and financial-crime risk, is required, along with proven experience in a leadership or senior advisory role with accountability for risk oversight at a business-line level. Candidates should also have a strong understanding of banking products, services, and regulatory requirements, and the ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment, collaborating across multiple functions and geographies.
The base pay range for this role is between $195,200 and $335,500 annually, with the final offer determined based on individual factors such as experience, skills, and location.
