Tyson & Mendes LLP, a nationwide AV-rated litigation firm specializing in insurance defense, is seeking a Senior Counsel to join their San Francisco office. The firm is renowned for its innovative approach to trial advocacy and its mission to prevent "Nuclear Verdicts®"—jury awards exceeding $10 million. With over 250 attorneys across 21 states, Tyson & Mendes offers a dynamic environment for seasoned litigators.

In this role, the Senior Counsel will independently manage complex litigation cases, develop compelling case themes, and lead trial preparation. Responsibilities include handling court appearances, depositions, briefs, and trials, as well as mentoring junior attorneys. The position requires routine communication with clients and the cultivation of relationships with existing and potential clients.

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor from an ABA-approved school and be licensed in California. A minimum of eight years of litigation experience, particularly in insurance defense, is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and time management systems is essential. Strong independent judgment, excellent communication skills, and a professional demeanor are required.

The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $160,000 to $190,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional increments. Comprehensive benefits cover health, vision, dental, and life insurance, with employer contributions averaging $700 to $1,700 annually. Additional benefits include a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, student loan repayment assistance, paid parental leave, and a monthly technology reimbursement.

Tyson & Mendes fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and outstanding client service. The firm offers a clear pathway to partnership, comprehensive in-house training, and leadership development opportunities. Employees benefit from flexible work arrangements, including office, hybrid, or remote options, and are encouraged to participate in internal diversity and inclusion programs, such as the Women’s Initiative and Young Professionals Initiative.
