Roadway Project Engineer
Benesch is seeking a Roadway Project Engineer to join our Civil Roadway team in Atlanta or Augusta, Georgia. This role involves working on transportation infrastructure projects, focusing on planning, engineering design, and construction for public agencies. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, with in-office presence required from Tuesday to Thursday and remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
The Roadway Project Engineer will be responsible for creating and executing project work plans, managing project teams with accountability for budgets and schedules, and mentoring junior staff. Additional duties include contributing to division strategic growth initiatives, collaborating on regional growth strategies, interacting with clients and agencies, representing Benesch at industry events, and identifying opportunities for strategic project pursuits.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and have a minimum of four years of diverse and progressive civil transportation design experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Georgia is required or the ability to obtain licensure within one year. Experience with public agencies, private entities, or municipalities is essential, along with proficiency in developing plans and technical specifications per Department of Transportation standards, including OpenRoads. Previous experience with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) standards is preferred. Strong communication and client relation skills are also necessary.
