The Principal Solution Engineer, Ecosystem at Canva plays a pivotal role in shaping how leading AI platforms integrate with Canva's design ecosystem. This position is central to the Ecosystem team, which manages Canva's external platform interfaces, including MCP, REST APIs, and the Apps platform. The role involves close collaboration with partners such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Meta to define and implement integration strategies.
Key responsibilities include driving technical decisions and alignment between partners and Canva's engineering teams, setting the technical direction for Canva's external platform surfaces, and grounding partner discussions in executable code. The role also encompasses overseeing product-line engineering across various external platforms and proactively communicating platform directions to partners. Additionally, the engineer will lead technical relationships for strategic partner engagements, managing the entire process from roadmap development to decision-making.
Candidates should have over 10 years of software engineering experience, particularly in roles that bridge partner engineering, platform engineering, and product development. Experience in building and deploying developer platforms used by external developers is essential. The role requires proficiency in navigating product roadmaps, system design discussions, and partner negotiations. Technical expertise in modern AI platform stacks, including MCP and agentic API design, is crucial. Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to diverse product stacks are also important.
