Payments Lawyer
Axiom is seeking experienced Payments Lawyers to collaborate with Canada's leading in-house banking and financial institutions. This role offers the opportunity to influence major financial operations and innovate within the rapidly evolving payments sector. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of regulations impacting payment systems and services, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Key responsibilities include providing comprehensive legal counsel on a range of regulatory and transactional matters concerning payment systems and services. This encompasses areas such as card issuing, ACH payments, mobile payments, card schemes, payment networks, gift cards, B2B payments, and other emerging payment systems. The role also involves drafting, negotiating, and executing payment-related documentation, including terms and conditions and contracts, as well as collaborating with internal business, legal, and compliance teams to analyze and interpret proposed payment-related legislation and regulations.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience working in-house or in a law firm advising banks, financial institutions, or payment-related corporations. A strong background in providing legal support and analysis on various payment-related matters is essential. Additionally, applicants must be members in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
