Paralegal - Second Chance Project

The Ohio Justice and Policy Center (OJPC) is seeking a Paralegal for its Second Chance Project in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role involves supporting direct legal services for individuals with criminal records, aiming to remove barriers to employment, housing, and other opportunities. OJPC is a statewide nonprofit law office dedicated to reducing incarceration and expanding freedom for people with criminal records.

As a Paralegal, you will assist attorneys in client representation by gathering information, reviewing case histories, conducting research, and preparing cases. You will also support Second Chance Legal Clinics through client intake, document preparation, interviews, and litigation support. Engaging in community outreach, presentations, and training sessions to educate individuals and organizations about legal remedies for those with criminal records will also be part of your responsibilities.

The ideal candidate should have an associate degree with 1-2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A paralegal certificate, bachelor's degree, or legal research training is preferred. Strong research, writing, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with legal case management software and public speaking or community outreach is advantageous.

The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience. OJPC offers a competitive benefits package, including 27 PTO days, 13 paid holidays, and an annual winter break between Christmas and New Year's.
