New Patient Physiotherapist
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will act as our senior triage physiotherapist, reviewing referrals and clinical documentation (“paper triage”) and conducting structured telephone/video assessments to determine suitability for a clinical assessment. You will signpost patients to the right pathway, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
This role does not include the delivery of treatment. You will support the care pathway by undertaking triage based on internal policies and best practise.
This is a new role to the company, your role will be instrumental in supporting the service to develop the physiotherapy arm of the service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
TRIAGE & ASSESSMENT
- Perform comprehensive triage of referrals and medical records to determine urgency, risk, and appropriate care pathway.
- Deliver telephone/video triage using internal policies and best practise to support decision making
- Identify exclusions, contraindications and safeguarding concerns and escalate in line with Montu policies and national guidance.
CARE COORDINATION
- Provide accurate and timeous record keeping
- Signpost internally and externally, escalate and refer internally as required
SERVICE DEVELOPMENT & QUALITY
- Lead or contribute to pathway audits, SOP updates, and outcome measurement (e.g., PROMs, time‑to‑treatment metrics).
- Support creation of patient education materials and digital triage scripts.
- Champion clinical governance, incident reporting, and continuous improvement.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
- HCPC‑registered Physiotherapist; member of CSP (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ post‑registration experience with at least 2 at Band 6+ level; strong clinical background.
- Demonstrable expertise in remote/telephone triage and safety‑netting.
