Markets & Derivatives Senior Counsel
Galaxy is seeking a Markets & Derivatives Senior Counsel to join its experienced Legal team in New York City. This role involves providing strategic legal advice on market and derivative transactions, including ISDAs, CSAs, prime brokerage agreements, and lending transactions. The Senior Counsel will report to the Head of Trading Legal and collaborate closely with various functional partners and business units.
Key responsibilities include acting as a strategic legal advisor for Galaxy on ISDAs, CSAs, confirms, prime brokerage agreements, lending, and vendor transactions. The role also involves advising on swap dealer-related rules, negotiating documentation with hedge funds, crypto-native firms, investment companies, individuals, miners, and other institutional clients. Additionally, the Senior Counsel will coordinate resources for negotiations, manage outside counsel engagements, and assist with implementing global regulatory and market changes affecting trading and documentation.
The ideal candidate will have over six years of transactional experience reviewing various financial transaction agreements, primarily ISDA/CSAs, trade confirmations, and prime brokerage agreements. They should possess product knowledge and transactional or regulatory experience within the OTC derivatives and swap dealer businesses. Experience in traditional financial markets, preferably at a sell-side bank supporting derivative desks, is also desired. The candidate should be highly organized, have meticulous attention to detail, and demonstrate the ability to produce quality work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
