Managing Counsel, Privacy and Data Security
The Managing Counsel, Privacy and Data Security will join the legal team at LA28, the committee responsible for organizing the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping and overseeing data privacy and cybersecurity policies for the organization, ensuring compliance with international, federal, state, and local regulations. The position offers the opportunity to work within a mission-driven environment supporting one of the largest sporting events in the world.
The primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and managing the overall privacy and data security strategy for LA28. This will involve advising internal teams on privacy risk, conducting privacy impact assessments, responding to data incidents, and negotiating data protection agreements. The Managing Counsel will provide guidance on applicable laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant privacy and cybersecurity frameworks.
Candidates should have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be licensed to practice law. Significant experience in privacy and data security law is required, preferably with previous experience advising on large-scale or high-profile events or organizations. Expertise in designing privacy programs and familiarity with evolving privacy regulations are essential. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills are key to excelling in this role.
