Manager, Data Engineering (Hybrid in Bangalore)

Smartsheet is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering to lead and mentor a team of data engineers and operations specialists within their India Global Capability Center in Bangalore. This role focuses on developing scalable, cost-efficient, and reliable data platform solutions that align with the company's strategic objectives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive team culture and driving innovation in data engineering practices.

Key responsibilities include coaching team members to leverage their strengths and achieve peak performance, defining and governing data platform solutions, and developing and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery/Continuous Training (CI/CD/CT) pipelines. The role also involves reviewing team designs for deployment safety, resilience, scalability, performance, and security, as well as facilitating cross-team interactions and aligning the data platform with business strategies.

The ideal candidate will have 10 to 12 years of experience, including at least 2 years in end-to-end people management. Experience with enterprise SaaS solutions requiring high availability and scalability is essential. Proficiency in leading and mentoring data and DevOps engineers, handling large-scale structured and unstructured data, and building and maintaining data platform systems is required. Technical expertise should include Databricks Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, Unity Catalog, Snowflake, Python, SQL, and modern software engineering practices such as Kubernetes, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
