Litigation Paralegal
Johnson Law Group is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our Chicago office, supporting our Personal Injury Auto Accidents practice. This role involves managing litigation matters from intake through trial, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines. Based on experience and qualifications, this position may be considered at a Senior Litigation Paralegal level.
Key responsibilities include drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, motions, and settlement documents for attorney review. The paralegal will organize, review, and summarize medical records, police reports, and accident-related documentation. Coordination with clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel is essential. Additionally, the role involves conducting legal and factual research to support case development and litigation strategy, assisting with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation, and tracking and managing litigation deadlines in accordance with Illinois civil procedure and local court rules.
The ideal candidate will possess an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and have a minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience in personal injury, with auto accident experience strongly preferred. A strong working knowledge of Illinois civil procedure and electronic filing systems is required. Excellent organizational, writing, and verbal communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software. The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment is crucial.
Compensation for this hourly, non-exempt position ranges from $35.00 to $45.67 per hour, with eligibility for overtime in accordance with applicable Illinois and federal wage and hour laws. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, with the company contributing 80-85% towards the medical premium. Financial benefits encompass a 401(k) plan with up to a 4% company match, life insurance, and commuter benefits. Time off includes paid time off, paid holidays, and leave in accordance with applicable law.
