Legal Support Assistant
Wilson Elser, a prominent defense litigation law firm with over 1,400 attorneys across 46 offices nationwide, is seeking a Legal Support Assistant for its Houston office. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience and grow within the legal profession. The role is on-site, requiring attendance five days per week.
The Legal Support Assistant will support attorneys and Legal Administrative Assistants by maintaining a professional and welcoming office environment. Key responsibilities include managing the reception area, handling incoming calls and messages, greeting and directing visitors, setting up conference rooms for meetings, and organizing both physical and electronic files. Additional duties involve assisting with client invoicing, processing vendor bills, responding to client billing inquiries, updating information using Excel spreadsheets, and providing general administrative support as needed.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least one year of administrative or clerical experience in an office setting. While prior law firm experience is beneficial, it is not required. Essential skills include strong written and verbal communication, professional phone etiquette, high attention to detail with excellent spelling and grammar, the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, discretion in handling confidential information, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. A willingness to work in person in an office environment is also necessary.
