Avery Dennison is seeking a Legal Counsel, Digital to provide critical legal guidance on digitalization, software, and technology matters across the organization. This role is integral to the company's customer-facing digital solutions and the ongoing digitization of its operations and those of its clients. The position reports directly to the Senior Legal Counsel, EMENA and Global Digital, and is based in Oegstgeest, Netherlands, with occasional international travel (approximately 10%).

In this role, the Legal Counsel will review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, including SaaS, hardware purchases, AI procurement, and professional services. They will act as a key member of commercial teams, providing high-quality legal services for multi-jurisdictional transactions, litigation resolution, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role involves developing and enhancing global templates, monitoring legislative developments in the digital space, and managing relationships with specialized outside counsel for specific projects and litigation.

The ideal candidate is a qualified EU lawyer with a Bachelor (LL.B.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) and at least 5 years of post-bar experience as a member of at least one bar association. They should have deep experience in drafting and negotiating SaaS, AI terms, and hardware licensing agreements, ideally within the technology industry. A strong understanding of issues related to cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), intellectual property, and data privacy/security is essential, along with an intellectual curiosity for product architecture. The candidate should be a creative thinker capable of resolving complex legal issues in innovative, practical ways while managing multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills are necessary to articulate nuanced legal concepts clearly to engineering teams and senior executives.
