Morgan & Morgan, a leading personal injury law firm, is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. This role involves supporting our legal professionals in managing day-to-day operations and ensuring efficient case management. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and contribute to our mission of advocating for clients' rights.

As a Legal Assistant, you will perform administrative duties such as scheduling hearings, organizing case files, and managing logistics. Responsibilities include maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes, organizing exhibits and legal documents, and implementing administrative processes to enhance workflow efficiency. You will also collect and organize evidence for attorney review, draft and proofread legal correspondence, and research regulations and laws to assist in case preparation. Managing client billing and coordinating meetings with clients and witnesses are also key aspects of this role.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with a preference for candidates holding an associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor's degree. A minimum of one year of experience as an administrative assistant, legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal is preferred, especially within practice areas such as Social Security, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, or Premises Liability. Candidates should possess strong multitasking abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. The ability to type at least 35 words per minute is also required.
