The legal and compliance team at SFM comprises attorneys, compliance officers, paralegals, and administrative support professionals who provide timely, business-oriented legal solutions that advance SFM’s business objectives while protecting its legal and financial interests and reputation.

The Legal Analyst will work alongside SFM attorneys and other personnel to handle a wide range of investment transactions and legal matters. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the legal department of a sophisticated global investment firm. The position is a two-year term with the potential for extension and requires a minimum two-year commitment.

Key responsibilities include assisting attorneys and external counsel in reviewing, documenting, and closing various investment transactions, supporting the review of common legal agreements such as non-disclosure agreements and third-party contracts, preparing account opening documentation, processing Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requests, collaborating with attorneys and the SFM Trade Support team to manage corporate actions and trading matters, supporting fund-related litigation, managing the storage and dissemination of Legal Department files, assisting the SFM Compliance team with regulatory practices, maintaining positive working relationships across the SFM platform and with external counsel and third-party vendors, and supporting attorneys with other miscellaneous tasks as required.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record and have an interest in gaining exposure to the legal profession, specifically in the context of investment transactions and/or investment funds. Prior experience in a legal or investment firm setting is a strong plus, but not required. Prior customer service experience is beneficial. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive, “can-do” attitude, highly responsive, diligent, and detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat is also important.

The base salary for this role is between $75,000 and $85,000. In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will be eligible to receive a discretionary year-end bonus.
