Lead Counsel
Scale AI is seeking a Lead Counsel to join its growing legal team, focusing on the company's international expansion and public sector engagements. This role involves working on complex legal issues at the forefront of artificial intelligence, particularly in developing and deploying AI systems for governments and public sector entities across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
The Lead Counsel will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including Sovereign AI deals, master services agreements, and bespoke software development agreements. The role also involves managing complex public tenders, counseling on privacy and emerging regulatory requirements, and designing policies and processes to manage legal and business risks. Collaboration with cross-functional teams across different geographies is a key aspect of this position.
Candidates should have a UK, common law, or EU legal qualification with substantial experience working on English law matters. A minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience in the technology sector, gained across leading law firms, in-house, or government roles, is required. Strong commercial and intellectual property legal skills, combined with business and technical acumen, are essential. Experience with government engagements, public procurement processes, and familiarity with EU law are also important.
