Associate General Counsel, Product & IP
Scale AI is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Product & IP, to lead the strategic management of its global intellectual property portfolio and provide expert legal guidance on issues intersecting IP and generative AI. This role is integral to ensuring that Scale's innovative AI products are developed and protected in alignment with business objectives and regulatory standards.
The Associate General Counsel will oversee the entire IP lifecycle, including invention sessions, patent application processes, and patent prosecution. They will collaborate closely with business and product teams to integrate IP protection into Scale's products and processes, ensuring compliance and fostering customer trust. Additionally, the role involves developing creative legal solutions to support new products and customer experiences, and assisting in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements related to IP and AI.
Ideal candidates will have over 8 years of experience in intellectual property law, both in-house and at a top law firm, with a focus on managing IP portfolios and providing product counseling. A deep understanding of U.S. and global IP laws, particularly in the context of AI and machine learning technologies, is essential. Strong strategic thinking, risk assessment, and communication skills are required, along with a proactive, collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $264,800 to $331,000 USD annually, with additional equity and benefits. The role is based in San Francisco, CA, with potential flexibility for other locations.
