Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer (Oakland Office)
Fictiv is seeking a Lead Cloud DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate production-grade cloud infrastructure at scale. This hands-on role involves leading infrastructure initiatives from architecture and planning through implementation, debugging, and optimization, supporting a growing, multi-regional global platform. The engineer will collaborate closely with engineering, security, and product teams to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across Fictiv's cloud infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining AWS infrastructure using CloudFormation as the primary Infrastructure-as-Code tool. The role also involves leading infrastructure projects from planning through execution, mentoring and guiding a small team, and building and maintaining Node.js–based tools and services for automation, deployment workflows, monitoring, and platform operations. Additionally, the engineer will design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments, set up and manage logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions across AWS environments, and perform infrastructure upgrades and improvements while minimizing downtime.
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Systems Engineering, with 5+ years of hands-on production experience writing Node.js code, including building services, automation, or internal tools. Expert-level, hands-on AWS experience is required, including EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, CodeBuild, and Elastic Beanstalk. Extensive, real-world CloudFormation experience is also necessary, including authoring and maintaining complex templates, managing stacks across multiple environments, and handling updates, rollbacks, drift detection, and full stack lifecycle management. Strong experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines, hands-on experience debugging systems and applications in production environments, and a strong understanding of AWS security best practices are also required.
Fictiv offers a competitive base salary range of $180,000 – $220,000 USD, depending on experience.
