Indirect Tax Compliance Lead (Bangkok Based, Relocation Provided)
Agoda, a global leader in online travel services, is seeking an Indirect Tax Compliance Lead to join their Finance team in Bangkok. This role reports directly to the Associate Director of Tax and collaborates closely with the Legal team. The primary focus is managing all tax matters related to VAT, sales tax, GST, and other indirect taxes across all countries where Agoda operates. The position offers relocation support to Bangkok.
Key responsibilities include overseeing indirect tax compliance and advisory activities, assessing indirect tax positions, defining tax requirements for existing and new programs/products, and ensuring practical implementation in internal systems. The role also involves researching global indirect tax developments, managing indirect tax projects, reconciling VAT/GST with financials, coordinating with external advisors, and contributing to indirect tax awareness within the Agoda group.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Chartered Accountant qualification or graduate degree in taxation is advantageous. A minimum of 8 years of indirect tax experience in a multinational environment is required, with experience in Big 4 firms, top law firms, or major corporations being highly regarded. Strong technical knowledge in indirect taxes (VAT/GST) in both mature and developing jurisdictions is essential, along with experience in indirect tax setup in systems, including ERP systems. Additional qualifications include project management expertise, strong organizational and change management skills, and the ability to work independently and productively.
