Senior Counsel, Fintech & Payment (Bangkok-based, Relocation Provided)
Agoda, a leading online travel agency headquartered in Singapore, is seeking a Senior Counsel for its FinTech & Payments team. This role is based in Bangkok, Thailand, with relocation assistance provided for qualified candidates. As part of Agoda's Legal team, the Senior Counsel will support the company's ambitious B2C payments initiative, offering end-to-end legal guidance across product design, commercial structuring, and operational rollout. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with product, engineering, compliance, and external advisors to introduce innovative payment experiences across various jurisdictions.
In this role, the Senior Counsel will be fully embedded in a high-priority product, overseeing its legal delivery from exploration to execution. Responsibilities include advising on product development, commercial arrangements, regulatory compliance, and operational risk. The position requires a deep understanding of both regulated and non-regulated FinTech and payment activities, with a focus on the APAC market dynamics and local regulatory philosophies. The role offers clear opportunities to influence product decisions and strategy, with visible outcomes as the product is launched and marketed.
Candidates should have at least 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in private practice or in-house roles. A strong desire to learn, adaptability, and the ability to ask insightful questions are essential. Effective stakeholder management, disciplined project management skills, and practical judgment to balance legal risks with business objectives are crucial. The role demands a high level of commitment, especially during critical project phases, with a focus on maintaining a sustainable 40-hour workweek as the project matures.
