Fraud Manager

Ozow, a leading fintech company based in South Africa, is seeking a Fraud Manager to join their team in Cape Town. Established in 2014, Ozow specializes in providing secure, automated electronic funds transfer (EFT) payment solutions, enabling businesses and consumers to conduct instant bank-to-bank transactions without the need for credit cards. As a Fraud Manager at Ozow, you will be responsible for safeguarding the company, its merchants, and their customers from financial crime and fraud-related losses. Leading a high-performing fraud operations team, you will develop and execute fraud prevention and detection strategies across various payment methods, including EFT and card transactions. Your role will involve collaborating with multiple departments such as Risk, Compliance, Legal, Commercial, FinOps, Product, Engineering, and Data to ensure comprehensive fraud mitigation.

Key responsibilities include leading and developing the fraud operations team, designing fraud rules, assessing emerging fraud threats, and implementing detection and prevention measures. You will also be tasked with producing actionable fraud reporting for executive stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance, and identifying and adopting new fraud detection technologies. This role requires a proactive approach to fraud management, balancing the need for security with the seamless processing of legitimate transactions.

Ideal candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a fraud, risk, or compliance environment. A strong understanding of fraud detection and prevention strategies, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams are essential. Experience in the fintech industry and familiarity with South African financial regulations will be advantageous.
