Forward Deployed AI Engineer
Banyan Software is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to integrate artificial intelligence solutions across various internal business functions, including Operations, Finance, Human Resources, and Legal. This role is pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and intelligence of these departments by developing AI-driven tools that automate processes, forecast demands, and provide actionable insights. The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, with a hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the office.
In this role, the engineer will closely collaborate with different teams to understand their workflows, identify areas where AI can add value, and build solutions that address specific business challenges. Responsibilities include embedding within teams to gain a deep understanding of their systems and pain points, identifying high-impact AI opportunities, prototyping and deploying AI-native applications using technologies like large language models (LLMs) and agentic workflows, and making informed decisions on whether to build solutions in-house or integrate existing ones. Additionally, the engineer will define success metrics, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and drive the adoption of AI tools across the organization.
Candidates should have 6 to 10 years of experience in software engineering, analytics, strategy, finance, or product management, with at least 3 years focused on AI or building AI-enabled applications. A bachelor's degree in a quantitative, business, or technical field is required, with a master's degree considered a plus. Proven experience in deploying production AI tools, including LLM applications, retrieval systems, or agentic workflows, is essential. Hands-on experience with automation and orchestration platforms, such as n8n or similar, and designing applications on AWS is also necessary. Strong engineering practices, including version control with GitHub, code reviews, testing, and infrastructure as code, are expected.
