Family Court Administrative Attorney
The Family Court Administrative Attorney position is a professional legal role within the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Family Division. This role involves supporting the judiciary by assisting judges with drafting memoranda, orders, and opinions, as well as reviewing various pleadings and petitions. The attorney reports directly to the Supervising and Administrative Judges of the Family Division or their designee.
Key responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting orders and legal memoranda, and reviewing pleadings and pending cases. The attorney provides reports, recommendations, and draft orders on complex legal issues presented in pleadings and appeals. Required qualifications include thorough knowledge of state and local rules of civil, criminal, and juvenile court procedure, as well as the Custody Act, Support Code, Divorce Code, Protection from Abuse Act, Juvenile Act, and Adoption Code. The candidate should have the ability to prepare notices, orders, and opinions for judicial approval, analyze various administrative and procedural problems, and communicate effectively with others. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with members of the judiciary, court administrators, attorneys, and the public is essential.
