Payoneer, established in 2005, is a global financial platform dedicated to simplifying cross-border business transactions. The company operates in over 190 countries and territories, serving a diverse clientele with a team of more than 2,500 employees worldwide. The Expert Regulatory Counsel, Europe, will be integral to Payoneer's Legal, Regulatory & Governance team, providing strategic legal guidance on regulatory matters across Europe. This role is based in Dublin or London and reports directly to the Global Regulatory Counsel in New York City.
In this position, the counsel will be responsible for delivering legal advice on complex regulatory issues within the payments and financial services sectors. Key duties include supporting management, compliance, and finance teams in Ireland and the UK to build and maintain relationships with regulatory bodies, researching and analyzing evolving regulations across multiple European markets, coordinating with external legal counsel, and assisting business and marketing teams in developing new services.
Candidates should be eligible to work and reside in Ireland or the United Kingdom and be qualified to practice law in these jurisdictions. A minimum of 6-7 years of legal experience is required, with a focus on providing counsel to the financial services industry; experience in the payments industry and with electronic money institutions is preferred. While direct experience with regulators and regulatory authorities is advantageous, it is not strictly necessary. The role demands the ability to evaluate complex situations, identify legal issues, analyze statutes and regulations, and recommend appropriate actions. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
