The Enterprise Business Development Representative (BDR) at Chainguard is a pivotal role focused on driving revenue growth by identifying and engaging potential clients within the cybersecurity sector. As part of the sales team, the BDR will leverage various lead generation techniques to build a robust pipeline of qualified leads. Chainguard, founded by industry experts in open source software and cloud-native development, provides secure, continuously updated open source software to help organizations eliminate threats in their software supply chains.
Key responsibilities include prospecting and identifying potential clients through methods such as cold calling, emailing, social media outreach, and attending industry events. The BDR will conduct thorough research to understand prospects' specific security needs and decision-making processes. By meeting or exceeding weekly and monthly targets, the BDR will generate a consistent pipeline of high-quality leads, qualify them based on business requirements, and schedule meetings and product demonstrations for the sales team. Collaboration with the sales team to develop targeted sales strategies and maintaining accurate records in the CRM system are also essential duties.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, with 1-3 years of experience in sales, lead generation, or business development within the cloud-native, cybersecurity, or DevOps industries. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, along with proficiency in CRM systems like HubSpot or Salesforce. The candidate should possess excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, be self-motivated and goal-oriented, and demonstrate the capacity to meet or exceed sales targets in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, products, and services is a strong plus.
Compensation for this role includes an on-target earnings (OTE) of $100,000, comprising a base salary and performance-based incentives. Chainguard offers a flexible, remote-first culture with opportunities for team meetups and bi-annual destination summits.
