Engineering Team Lead - Application Infrastructure

As an Application Infrastructure Team Lead at Gong, you will lead the development of core frameworks and services that underpin our entire ecosystem. This pivotal role sits at the intersection of application development and systems engineering, ensuring our platform remains resilient, high-performing, and developer-friendly as we scale.

Your primary responsibilities will include guiding a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership and excellence, and designing and maintaining mission-critical frameworks using Java and Spring Boot. You will define and enforce technical standards for code quality, system performance, and security across the stack, and oversee the reliability and scalability of asynchronous communication using Kafka or SQS.

To excel in this role, you should have at least 8 years of hands-on technical experience, with a minimum of 2 years leading engineering teams in fast-paced environments. Deep expertise in Java and Spring Boot for building complex, large-scale server-side applications is essential. Proficiency in at least one of the following—PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis, MongoDB, SQS, or Kafka—is required, along with the ability to lead engineers in optimizing these tools. A strong understanding of AWS services and cloud infrastructure is also necessary.
