Engineering Manager, Flow Insights & Management
The Engineering Manager for the Flow Insights & Management team at Klaviyo will lead a group of full-stack engineers dedicated to developing and enhancing the Flows product. This team is responsible for building the foundation that enables Klaviyo customers to create, manage, and configure their automated workflows, as well as providing reporting experiences to help customers understand the performance and impact of their Flows. By joining this team, the Engineering Manager will have the opportunity to directly influence over 170,000 brands that rely on Klaviyo daily to engage with their customers.
In this role, the Engineering Manager will guide the execution of major new Flows features, including the addition of sending channels, intelligent personalizations, technical evolution, and scalability. The position blends technical leadership, architectural direction, and people management. The manager will work closely with product managers, product designers, support, and various engineering teams to extend and drive the evolution of the Flows product.
Key responsibilities include leading a team of engineers to deliver full-stack, customer-facing features across Klaviyo’s Flows product offering, setting technical direction for multi-channel Flows (e.g., email, SMS, push), and owning end-to-end execution of initiatives. The manager will drive architectural decisions prioritizing scalability, reliability, and maintainability, partner with Product and Design to create intuitive user experiences, and foster a high-performance and inclusive team culture. Additionally, the role involves collaborating across Klaviyo to align roadmaps and ship cohesive solutions, as well as contributing hands-on through design documents, code reviews, and technical spikes.
The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of software engineering experience with strong frontend and backend skills, and more than 5 years of engineering management experience, preferably managing full-stack teams. Proficiency with frontend technologies like React, TypeScript, and Redux, as well as backend systems using Python and Django or FastAPI, is essential. The candidate should be skilled in system design, reusable component architecture, and scalable frontend platforms, with familiarity in DevOps tooling, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and Terraform. A proven track record of delivering complex features in fast-paced, product-led environments, along with clear communication and collaborative leadership, is required. Experience with AI tools and workflows is also desirable.
Klaviyo offers a competitive base salary ranging from $176,000 to $264,000, determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, education, and work location. The total compensation package may include participation in the company’s annual cash bonus plan, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits based on eligibility. The company provides a hybrid work environment, requiring three days per week in the Boston office.
