Engineering Manager, AI Enabled Investment Platforms
The Engineering Manager will lead the design, development, and evolution of Bridgewater Associates' AI-Enabled Investment Platforms, which integrate investment logic, quantitative research, and AI capabilities. This senior, hands-on role requires strong architectural judgment, modern engineering instincts, and effective people leadership. The manager will oversee multiple core platforms, lead high-performing engineering teams, and collaborate closely with investors, researchers, and scientists to translate complex ideas into reliable, impactful systems.
Key responsibilities include owning the architecture and ongoing evolution of AI-Enabled Investment Platforms, designing and building systems using modern development approaches, and making critical architectural decisions that balance speed, correctness, resilience, and long-term adaptability. The role also involves driving platform modernization, performance improvements, and the reduction of technical debt, as well as partnering with stakeholders to understand workflows and express them in durable, extensible technology. Maintaining high standards for reliability, testing, observability, security, and operational excellence is essential.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience building and operating complex production systems, with at least 4 years in a senior technical leadership role. Proven experience in owning and evolving large-scale platforms, particularly in investment, financial, data, or AI-driven environments, is required. Strong system design and architectural skills across distributed systems, data platforms, and AI-enabled systems are essential. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to lead teams while remaining deeply engaged in technical decisions and have experience working closely with investors, researchers, or scientists on high-stakes problems.
The anticipated onsite requirement for this role is four days per week, split between Bridgewater's Westport, CT campus and the New York City office. The compensation range for this position is $1.2 million to $1.8 million, inclusive of base salary, discretionary bonus, and long-term incentives.
