Bridgewater Associates is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join its Investment Technology Application Support team. This team manages a portfolio of mission-critical applications that drive the firm's Investment Engine, encompassing Signal Generation, Portfolio Construction, and Trade Execution. The environment includes both proprietary and vendor systems, and the team's objective is to ensure these systems are reliable, well-understood, and continuously improving to deliver maximum value with minimal operational risk and cost.
In this role, the Application Support Engineer will be responsible for continuously improving application support by identifying gaps, eliminating inefficiencies, and aligning systems to evolving business needs. The engineer will own the reliability and performance of a suite of applications, ensuring consistent delivery against defined service levels. Responsibilities also include serving as the escalation point for Level 1 support, collaborating with Level 3 engineering to onboard and stabilize applications, driving strategic technical initiatives to enhance system robustness, scalability, or efficiency, and building automation and tooling (e.g., SQL, PowerShell, Python) to reduce manual work and increase consistency. Additionally, the role involves executing production changes with discipline, following structured change management with clear planning, testing, and communication, maintaining system health proactively (patching, versioning, licensing), and managing multiple priorities with clarity on trade-offs and impact.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in enterprise technical support or production engineering, with a demonstrated ability to deliver small to medium-sized technical projects end-to-end. Strong working knowledge of Python, Power BI, PowerShell, or similar tools is required, along with excellent problem-solving skills focused on root cause and system-level thinking. Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is a willingness to take ownership, including participating in off-hours support when required. Preferred qualifications include ITIL certification or equivalent understanding of service management principles, experience operating in a production support or DevOps environment, and familiarity with financial systems or investment workflows.
The compensation for this role ranges from $200,000 to $250,000, inclusive of base salary and discretionary target bonus. The expected base salary is between 75% and 85% of this wage range. Bridgewater Associates offers a competitive suite of benefits, including health insurance with 100% premium coverage, access to additional concierge medical services, a 401(k) plan with generous employer match, paid time off, including fully paid parental leave, workplace flexibility, and access to backup childcare. Additional benefits include financial assistance for family building support, workplace wellness programs, and an engaged and active community with many company events, affinity networks, and extracurricular interest groups.
