Director, Legal
Gong is seeking a Director, Legal to join its dynamic team. This high-impact, Director-level individual contributor role is designed for someone who thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment and aims to help build a best-in-class legal function aligned with a high-velocity go-to-market engine. The position offers the opportunity to evolve into a leadership role as the team scales.
The Director, Legal will lead the negotiation and structuring of complex, high-value enterprise SaaS agreements with strategic customers. This role involves partnering closely with Sales leadership and executive stakeholders to enable revenue growth and shape deal strategy. Additionally, the Director will provide clear, business-oriented legal guidance that appropriately balances risk with commercial outcomes, act as a senior resource and mentor to commercial lawyers, and contribute to the development of team capabilities and standards. The role also includes driving the development and scaling of legal processes, templates, and playbooks to support a rapidly growing Sales organization, serving as a senior escalation point for complex deal issues, and collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Security, Privacy, and Finance teams.
Candidates must possess a JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state, with 8–12+ years of experience in commercial transactions, including significant in-house experience at a SaaS or technology company. Strong experience in negotiating complex enterprise SaaS agreements with large customers is essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate independently, exercise sound legal and business judgment in high-stakes situations, and have experience mentoring or leading other attorneys. Effective communication of complex legal concepts to business stakeholders and comfort operating in a high-growth, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities are also required.

The annual salary hiring range for this position is $275,000 - $300,000 USD, with total compensation including base salary, variable pay, and benefits.
