Smartsheet is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the development of its high-usage user interfaces, including Timeline View, Board View, and Shared Experiences. These interfaces are central to the Smartsheet experience, serving as the primary interaction points for millions of users engaging with the company's Intelligent Work Management platform. This role is pivotal in shaping the user experience and ensuring consistency across Smartsheet's expanding portfolio of views.

The Director will be responsible for defining the engineering vision and goals for the Views pillar, collaborating closely with product counterparts to drive the roadmap and set quarterly priorities. Leading multiple engineering teams through Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers, the Director will ensure accountability for delivery, technical quality, and team health. Key responsibilities include driving the architecture of scalable, high-traffic front-end experiences, maintaining high standards for code quality and operational excellence, and initiating cross-team technical efforts to resolve architectural challenges.

Candidates should have over 11 years of experience in software engineering and system architecture, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles managing organizations of 20 or more people. A proven track record in building and scaling high-traffic enterprise SaaS products is essential. Deep familiarity with modern front-end development, particularly with React, Redux, and Webpack, is required. Experience in microservice or SOA-based web application development, AWS infrastructure tooling, and designing distributed systems is also necessary. Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across product, design, and platform teams are crucial.

Smartsheet offers a competitive base salary range of $235,000 to $315,000 USD, along with employer-subsidized medical, vision, and dental coverage for full-time employees. Additional benefits include a 401(k) match, monthly stipends to support work and productivity, flexible time away programs, and up to 24 weeks of parental leave. Employees also receive 12 paid holidays per year and have access to professional growth opportunities, including Udemy online courses.

At Smartsheet, employees are encouraged to explore, push boundaries, and grow beyond their roles. The company values diverse perspectives and nontraditional career paths, fostering an inclusive environment where ideas are heard, and contributions have a real impact. Joining Smartsheet means being part of a team that is dedicated to building what's next, together.
