Director, Engineering - Comms Capture
Gong is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead its Communications/Data Capture and Integration teams. This pivotal role involves building and scaling systems that ingest, process, and integrate data from diverse sources into Gong's platform. The position is based in Dublin, with a hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the Dame St. office.
The Director will be responsible for leading and expanding engineering teams focused on data ingestion, pipelines, and integrations, including APIs, streaming, batch processing, and third-party systems. Key responsibilities include defining the technical strategy and roadmap for data capture and integration platforms, ensuring scalability and reliability to handle high-volume, real-time data, and partnering with Product and Data leaders to align on priorities and delivery timelines. Additionally, the role involves making architectural decisions across data pipelines and integration frameworks, improving developer productivity through enhanced tooling, and maintaining data quality, governance, and security.
Candidates should have over eight years of experience in software engineering, with at least three years in engineering leadership roles managing managers. Proven experience leading teams focused on data platforms, ingestion, or integrations is essential, along with a strong background in distributed systems and data pipelines. Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, or Airflow, and experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure are required. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate strong cross-functional collaboration skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for building inclusive, high-performing engineering cultures.
