Deputy General Counsel

As the first Deputy General Counsel, you will collaborate with the General Counsel to establish and manage the legal function, addressing a wide range of legal needs within the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include working cross-functionally to mitigate compliance risks while facilitating business objectives, advising on export-control compliance programs, designing and managing classified data practices, negotiating and reviewing various commercial agreements, and overseeing the development of a contracts management function. Additionally, you will assist the General Counsel in managing and scaling other legal portfolios as needed.
To be considered, candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and have over nine years of legal experience, including clerkships. Substantial experience with export controls, classification, or commercial contracts is essential. The role requires a proactive attorney capable of facilitating business growth while minimizing risk in a pragmatic and adaptable manner.
The base salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $250,000 annually. Compensation is determined based on role, level, location, and market data, with individual levels and base pay varying based on job-related skills, education, experience, and internal equity. In addition to the base salary, full-time hires may be eligible for long-term incentives, such as stock options, and have access to medical, vision, and dental coverage, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan.
