Data Platforms Manager
Experian is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Cloud Database Leader to design, implement, secure, and optimize cloud-based database solutions across the enterprise. This role leads a team of database engineers and collaborates closely with architecture, development, DevOps, and application teams to ensure the delivery of highly available, scalable, and cost-efficient data platforms. The position is integral to Experian's mission of leveraging data and technology to empower people and businesses worldwide.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with various teams to automate, build, install, configure, and maintain cloud database platforms in line with architectural guidelines and business requirements. The role involves designing and supporting secure cloud database solutions on AWS, such as Aurora (Postgres/MySQL), RDS Postgres/MySQL, DMS, and implementing encryption with KMS. Additionally, the leader will assess existing on-premises databases and develop strategies for their migration to cloud-native solutions with minimal downtime.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in database engineering or administration, including at least 3 years leading cloud database initiatives. Hands-on expertise with AWS cloud databases, strong experience in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, proficiency with DevOps tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Ansible, and strong scripting abilities in Python are essential. A deep understanding of database performance tuning, high availability/disaster recovery, replication, and security is also required.
