Counsel, Legal Affairs - DreamWorks

DreamWorks Animation is seeking a Counsel, Legal Affairs to join its television group. This role involves providing comprehensive legal support for animated series, specials, and short-form content, ensuring that all production activities align with legal standards and company policies.

Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating above-the-line agreements, such as rights acquisition contracts and agreements for writers, voice actors, producers, and consultants. The Counsel will serve as the primary legal liaison with senior production staff, advising on various legal matters and interfacing with departments like content security, production, accounting, finance, labor and employment, marketing, consumer products, insurance, tax, distribution, trademark, and clearance teams.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and be a member in good standing of the California State Bar or eligible to register as California in-house counsel. A minimum of three years' experience in a motion picture studio, production company, network, law firm, or related field is required. Superior drafting, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines and build interdepartmental relationships at all levels.

This position offers a salary range of $140,000 to $170,000, with eligibility for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various other discounts and perks. The role is designated as hybrid, requiring a minimum of four days per week in the office.
