Corporate Counsel
Metromakro, a global leader in wholesale food and non-food distribution, is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their legal team. Serving the needs of hotels, restaurants, catering businesses (HoReCa), and independent traders, Metromakro operates in 35 countries with 150,000 employees. In Romania, the company has over 4,000 employees and 30 distribution centers, with an annual turnover of 10.5 billion lei. The Corporate Counsel will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance and supporting business operations across the organization.
The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for verifying, approving, and fulfilling all legal formalities related to contracts, agreements, and addenda at the company and store levels. They will provide legal assistance in investigations and collaborate with external lawyers in litigation. The role includes representing the company before public authorities and courts when necessary, offering legal advice on various matters, and ensuring the drafting, review, and endorsement of specific contracts in accordance with applicable legislation. Additionally, the Corporate Counsel will prepare reports and legislative interpretations impacting the company's activities and provide legal assistance, consulting, and training on legal issues, legislative interpretation, and, where applicable, customs matters.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar legal role and possess a university degree in Law with a strong legal foundation and understanding of applicable legislation. Fluency in English is required, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex legal matters, identify risks, and ensure accuracy in legal documentation. A team-oriented mindset is essential, with the capability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, while also being capable of working independently.
