Consumer Banking Counsel
Axiom is seeking a Consumer Banking Counsel to join its Financial Services team in New York. This role involves providing legal advice and regulatory support on a wide range of consumer banking and finance matters, including credit card programs, deposit products, and consumer lending. The position offers an opportunity to work with diverse clients in the financial services sector, addressing complex legal challenges in a dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities include offering legal guidance on consumer banking and finance issues, advising clients on regulatory and compliance matters related to credit card and deposit products, managing consumer product disputes and complaint resolutions, and providing counsel on Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) matters. The role also involves supporting clients in collections practices, advising on vendor oversight and third-party risk management, collaborating with internal teams on consumer credit programs, assisting with compliance for automotive consumer finance and retail installment credit programs, and monitoring regulatory developments impacting consumer financial services.
Candidates should have over six years of experience in consumer banking, consumer finance, or financial services regulatory matters, with strong experience in consumer credit card products and related regulatory frameworks. Experience in handling consumer disputes, complaint resolution, and credit reporting issues, including FCRA compliance, is essential. Knowledge of collections practices and regulatory compliance for consumer credit products, as well as experience advising on vendor oversight and third-party risk management, is also required. A Juris Doctor (JD) and licensure to practice law in New York are mandatory. Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills are necessary.
The estimated total compensation for this full-time role ranges from $1,045,000 to $3,250,000 per year. Compensation decisions are based on various factors, including experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
