Co-op: Quality Control
Prime Medicine is seeking a co-op for the Spring 2026 semester to join the Analytical Development and Quality Control (QC) team. This role offers an opportunity to engage with cutting-edge gene editing technologies and contribute to the advancement of prime editing programs toward clinical applications. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in analytical testing within a dynamic biotechnology environment.
The co-op will support product development sample analyses, including in-process, release, and stability testing for lipid nanoparticle-based drug products and prime editing component RNAs. Responsibilities encompass participating in stability and reference standard programs, assisting with sample management, conducting clean room laboratory environmental monitoring for GMP manufacturing suites, and documenting experimental data in electronic notebooks per cGMP requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support product and method development, as well as contributing to laboratory functionality and QC process optimization, are key aspects of the role.
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. program in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Microbiology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacology, or a related field. Completion of foundational coursework with laboratory components in biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or chemistry is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, possess strong problem-solving and organizational skills, and exhibit excellent verbal and written communication abilities. A willingness to learn GLP/GMP practices and new analytical techniques is essential.
Preferred qualifications include an understanding of fundamental principles behind biological, microbiology, or chemical techniques such as UV-Vis, HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, potency assays, and CFU identification and counting. Hands-on experience with biological or chemical analytical techniques, such as sample extraction, preparation, dilution, and analysis, is advantageous. Knowledge or experience in the field of gene and cell therapy, or a willingness to learn, is also desirable. Previous intern or co-op experience in the biotechnology industry is a plus.
Prime Medicine offers a cutting-edge team open to mentorship and networking, full reimbursement for monthly commuting costs including MBTA, Commuter Rail, or Bluebikes, participation in regular seminars with industry experts, and full participation in employee activities including learning and development offerings and social activities. Please note that candidates outside of the local Boston/Cambridge area are currently not being considered.
