Backend Tech Lead (Remote, Contract)

As a Backend Tech Lead at INFUSE, you will play a pivotal role in defining architecture and standards, delivering features end-to-end, and consistently enhancing reliability, security, and delivery speed. This remote, contract position offers the opportunity to lead by example within a dynamic and innovative team.

Your primary responsibilities will include hardening CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins, building and testing containers, and deploying via Helm to AWS (EKS or ECS). You will implement lightweight bot protection measures such as rate limits, IP allowlists, and abuse detection hooks. Monitoring latency and error budgets through CloudWatch and Grafana, as well as performance tuning of database indexes, caching strategies, queue throughput, and API response times, will also be key aspects of your role.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience building production systems and 2 years in a lead or ownership role. Proficiency PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB is essential, along with experience in OpenAPI 3 and GitHub Actions. A deep understanding of RBAC, session/auth flows, and security basics is required, as well as comfort with asynchronous and event-driven patterns. Clear documentation skills and the ability to make informed trade-offs while keeping stakeholders informed are also important.
