Backend Engineer - Infrastructure
HeyGen is seeking a Backend Engineer specializing in Infrastructure to join their team in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Palo Alto, or Toronto. The company is dedicated to making visual storytelling accessible to all, aiming to build technology that empowers individuals to create captivating and inspiring content.
In this role, the Backend Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and efficient foundational systems. Key areas include data infrastructure to support analytics, cloud infrastructure for GPU capacity management, machine learning infrastructure to enhance AI research productivity, and product infrastructure to support HeyGen's offerings. Collaboration with product engineers and AI researchers is essential to deliver high-performance systems. The engineer will also monitor backend systems for performance, errors, and anomalies, implementing necessary fixes and improvements. Maintaining high code quality through regular code reviews, pair programming, and writing unit and integration tests is expected. Staying updated with the latest system technologies and best practices is crucial to ensure HeyGen remains at the forefront of technology.
Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience working on scalable and performant systems. Proficiency in Python or C++ is required, along with experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB. Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP is necessary, as is a strong knowledge of API design and development. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in a related field, experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes, experience with machine learning infrastructure, especially in computer vision, and prior experience in a startup or fast-paced tech environment.
