Associate General Counsel, Product, Privacy and AI
Peregrine Technologies is seeking an Associate General Counsel specializing in Product, Privacy, and AI to join their legal team in Washington, D.C. This role involves providing strategic legal guidance to the Product, Engineering, Security, and Compliance teams, focusing on AI governance, privacy frameworks, and emerging regulatory landscapes. The position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and plays a pivotal role in integrating legal considerations into the product development lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include serving as an embedded legal advisor during product development cycles, shaping and implementing Peregrine's AI governance framework, and monitoring evolving AI regulations and global privacy standards such as CCPA/CPRA and GDPR. The role also involves advising on regulatory regimes pertinent to public sector clients, conducting privacy impact assessments, and reviewing AI-related intellectual property and licensing matters. Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will collaborate with Security and Compliance teams on incident response and regulatory inquiries, and develop internal guidance and training materials to support responsible AI and data governance.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with active admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction and have over seven years of relevant legal experience, including significant product counseling and AI-related work within high-growth SaaS companies. A deep understanding of U.S. and international privacy frameworks, experience in AI governance and model risk assessment, and familiarity with regulatory regimes affecting public sector customers are essential. Strong communication skills, the ability to translate complex regulatory issues into actionable product guidance, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach are also required.
The compensation package for this role includes an annual salary ranging from $270,000 to $345,000, complemented by benefits, equity (if applicable), and potential bonuses. Actual compensation will be influenced by factors such as skill set, experience level, and specific work location.
