Associate Attorney
Tyson & Mendes LLP is a national litigation firm specializing in insurance defense and trial advocacy. The firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Sacramento, California office. As an Associate Attorney, you will independently manage a full caseload, handling all aspects from discovery through trial. Your responsibilities will include developing compelling case strategies, conducting court appearances, depositions, motion practice, and trials. You will also maintain consistent and professional communication with clients, build and nurture relationships with existing and prospective clients, and mentor junior attorneys to contribute to team growth and success.
The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and an active bar license in California. A minimum of 1–8 years of solid litigation experience, including case strategy, depositions, and trial preparation, is required. Prior insurance defense experience is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint is essential, along with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities are a must.
Compensation for this position includes a base salary ranging from $115,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers available. Comprehensive benefits coverage is offered, including plans available at zero employee cost, with an average annual employer contribution for health, vision, dental, and life coverage ranging from $700 to $1,700. Employees benefit from a 401(k) program with a 100% match on the first 3% contributed and a 50% match on the following 4-5%. Additional benefits include student loan repayment assistance or a 529 college savings plan, paid parental leave at base pay, and a monthly technology reimbursement of $60.
