Assistant General Counsel (m/w/d)
Intuitive Surgical, a pioneer in robotic-assisted surgery, is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join their EMEA Legal team in Freiburg, Germany. This role is integral to supporting the company's mission of advancing minimally invasive care through innovative technology. The position requires a combination of legal expertise and a deep understanding of the medical device industry within the DACH region.
The Assistant General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing commercial operations, addressing legal questions specific to the DACH region, managing general litigation matters including public procurement and accounts receivable, and handling product liability issues. Additionally, the role involves active participation in relevant industry association work groups and providing backup support to the Production Counsel. The position mandates a presence in the Freiburg office three days a week.
Candidates should possess a law degree from a German, Swiss, or Austrian university with at least 12 years of industry-related experience, or 7 years of experience with a bar exam and/or PhD in law. Fluency in German and English is required, with proficiency in an additional European language considered advantageous. Strong legal drafting, verbal, and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to navigate complex legal landscapes across jurisdictions. A deep understanding of laws, regulations, industry codes, and best practices governing the medical device industry in DACH jurisdictions is crucial.
